Jacob Ingvarsson
Jacob started his journey in the world of opera, he studied and worked as an opera singer in Sweden, Austria and the United Kingdom before trying something new.
Jacob is a performer who would like to to do everything, sing opera, musical theatre, be an actor, dance…
Even though his work with opera is far from over he has now taken on a new challenge along side his opera career and is now studying musical theatre, dancing and acting in London.
Born and raised in Stockholm, he started his musical journey in the choir of the S:t Katarina church in Stockholm. Katarina boys-choir is one of leading choirs in Sweden and they perform not only in the S:t Katarina parish but also in other parts of Sweden and internationally. Jacob attended the Music High School of Kungsholmen in Stockholm, where he studied Natural science and Music, after which he moved to Vadstena Folkhögskola where he attended their Classical music program, during autumn 2010.
The summer 2012 Jacob left Vadstena for Vienna, Austria, to study German at the University of Vienna, but principally to focus on developing his musical repertoire under opera singer Elisabeth Wärnfeldt. In Vienna Jacob flourished and lead by Elisabeth Wärnfeldt he got accepted to the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität in Linz fall of 2014, where he studied for a year before returning to Stockholm to continue working with Elisabeth Wärnfeldt. There he got accepted to Stockholm Operastudio’s opera course where he studied for two years, performing in different roles and concerts.
Two years after returning to Stockholm Jacob left Sweden again to start studying in London at Associated Studios performing academy’s one year opera course.A course designed to help singers not only with repertoire and technique but also with entrepreneurship. After the opera course Jacob decided to try something different and got accepted to Associated Studio's Musical Theatre 1-year course.
London
At the Associated Studios in London Jacob worked on expanding his operatic solo repertoire as well as ensemble repertoire, working with several different tutors in acting, singing, dancing, performing, entrepreneurship etc. and several masterclasses with Sophie Daneman, John Ramster, Arlene Rolph and many more.
After a year at the opera course Jacob wanted to try something new and got accepted to the 1-year Musical Theatre course at Associated Studios. A year full of masterclasses and workshops in song, dance and acting which prepared him well for working with Musical Theatre.
Stockholm
After a year in Linz Jacob moved back to Stockholm to continue working with Mag. Phil. Opera Singer Elisabeth Wärnfeldt, he also got accepted to the Stockholm Operstudio’s opera course where he studied for two years.
During these two years Jacob performed in several performances and performed roles such as Don Basilio from le Nozze di Figaro and Paolino from Il matrimonio segreto. After the two years in stockholm Jacob applied for Associated Studios, performing arts academy in London and got accepted for their opera course in september 2017
Vienna
Jacob lived in Vienna from September 2012 to september 2014, where he studied German at the University and especially focused on his singing. With the help and guidance of Opera singer Mag. Phil. Elisabeth Wärnfeldt Jacob began preparing for university studies, and autumn 2013 Jacob was accepted at the “Anton Buckner Privatuniversität” in Linz. During the spring of 2013 Jacob has performed in several concerts in the Salvaatorsal in central Vienna, including the Benefiz-Concert, a great concert dedicated to the homeless in Vienna that took place in Salvaatorsal in spring 2013. Jacob has during 2012-2013 been a member of Cantus Novus Wien under the management of Thomas Holmes, and has taken part in several concerts as well as a CD-recording with choir pieces from Kai Nieminen.
Vadstena Folkhögskola
Jacob was accepted to Vadstena Folkhögskola’s Music program as Tenor, autumn 2010. The School focuses mainly on traditional Nordic national-romantic repertoire. The students perform almost every month in concerts organized by the school. The school also organises an Opera for the students to perform in place in Sweden's oldest village-theatre "Gamla teatern". Jacob has for example performed songs such as "Ombra mai fu" from G.Händel's Xerxes, "Tonerna" from C.L. SJöberg, "And die Musik" from F. Schubert and "Bland skogens höga furustammar" from W. Peterson Berger. Jacob was a part of the choir in Carl Millöcker's "Der Bettelstudent" and in W. Mozart's "Zauberflöte" he played the part of Monostatos. The summer of 2012 Jacob was a part of the choir in the production of G. Donizetti's "Enrico di Borgogna" produced by Vadstena Akademin in Vadstena.
Kungsholmens Gymnasium
Jacob studied at Kungsholmens gymnasium with extra curriculum choir. The choir had several concerts every year, and even entered in a choir competition in Bratislava where they won gold in every category they participated in.
Katarina Gosskör
Katarina Gosskör (S:t Katarina Church Boys choire) under the management of Lars-Ewe Nilsson is one of Sweden's most esteemed choirs. The choir is connected to the S:t Katarina church in Stockholm and sing at most events in the church, especially during December. The choir also performs in the rest of Sweden and often abroad. As boy soprano Jacob has preformed as soloist in B. Britten's "Noye's Fludde" with Court Singer Professor Erik Saedén. Jacob has taken part in several tours with the choir in Europe: Austria, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Denmark etc. In Spain the choir sang for example in the Monistary Santa Maria de Montserrat with their well-known Boys Choire
